Mobile, AL. — The Original Oyster House restaurant located on the Causeway will host the Mobile BayBear players and Boomer Bear on Monday, May 26, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Hammerhead Joe’s Tiki Bar. The players and Boomer Bear will be available for pictures and autographs on Memorial Day as a fundraising event to benefit Via! formerly Senior Citizens Services of Mobile. Ten percent of the restaurants sales on Memorial Day will be donated to Via!, a United Way Agency, which is comprised of three primary program areas: Via! Health, Fitness and Enrichment Center, Via! Services and Via! Solutions.
Via! Health, Fitness and Enrichment Center, located at 1717 Dauphin Street, is the premier wellness center for people over the age of 50. The center offers a variety of services in the areas of fitness, health education, creative arts and recreation for older adults. Via! Services is located on the Mitchell campus, providing personal support services to enhance and maintain independent living. Via! Services is a vital community resource to many mature adults and their families. It offers home care services, emergency assistance, case management, transportation and an adult day care program. Via! Solutions, is a community information and resource center located in Colonial Bel Air Mall. Visitors can get help in finding community resources to meet their needs; in addition routine health seminars and special activities, in cooperation with a variety of community partners are offered on a regular basis.
