Fairhope, AL. — The Original Oyster House honored two Baldwin County art students with our 5th Annual Chelsea Garvin Spirit Award Scholarship Program. This is the fifth year we have given scholarships to area students in the name of Chelsea, a former Fairhope High School art student, Fish River Fire Department Rescue Diver and Original Oyster House employee. Tragically, Chelsea was killed in a boating accident in the fall of 2005.
On May 13, 2010 at the Fairhope High School Senior Night ceremony Joe and Mary Lou Roszkowski owners of the Original Oyster House restaurant presented Breana Blount with one of two $1000 scholarships. Breana will be attending Faulkner State Community College this fall where she will be pursuing a degree in Graphic Design after two years of school she plans to attend a four year university to obtain a doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy. Breana is a very talented artist, she participated in the ABC projects at the Eastern Shore Art Center and has sold some of her original pieces in the community.
Also, on May 13, 2010 Tracy Pierce, Marketing Director for the Original Oyster House Restaurants presented Joshua Brown a Daphne High School senior with the other $1000 scholarship to attend Pensacola Jr. College to pursue Drawing. Joshua a very talented artist created among other things a one of a kind mural for a local church in the community.
Congratulations to both of these talented and deserving art students, they are shining examples of what is right with Baldwin County School art programs.
