Snowbird Dining at the Original Oyster House
The mild winters of southern Alabama may be one of the reasons this region draws so many snowbirds, but we’d like to think our area’s seafood is another big part of the appeal. If you’re spending the winter near Gulf Shores or Mobile, we’d like to invite you to try some fresh Gulf seafood at the Original Oyster House.
With waterfront locations in both Gulf Shores and Spanish Fort, we’re a conveniently-located snowbird restaurant serving up authentic Southern fare for both locals and visitors. Many of our guests come to us for fire-grilled or raw oysters on the half shell, but our menu doesn’t stop there. We’ve got something for everyone, whether you’re looking for a big dinner (like our crab cake and grilled shrimp combo) or a lighter lunch (like our soup and salad deal).
Join us for classic Gulf Coast dishes at an affordable price. We have an extensive menu and Winter Specials that change every year, so there’s always something new to try.
Your Dining Experience Matters to Us
At the Original Oyster House, our mission is to exceed our customers’ expectations every time, whether they’re joining us for the first time or have been visiting us every winter for the last 10 years. We start by buying the freshest seafood available from local, family-owned vendors and preparing that food to the strict specifications we’ve developed over the last 20+ years.
We also focus on maintaining a family-friendly, welcoming environment. When you visit our snowbird restaurant in Gulf Shores or along the Mobile Causeway, we want to make sure you feel at home. Your server will be happy to offer you menu recommendations, and you can peruse the memorabilia and historical photos decorating our walls to learn more about our region while you wait for your food. After you’re done eating, be sure to check out our gift shop—you can purchase Joe and Dave’s signature sauces and spices for your own Southern cooking, or you can take home a whole pie to enjoy at your leisure.
Welcoming Snowbirds Since 1983
Since opening in 1983, we’ve become a popular place for snowbirds to get together, and we’re proud that so many of our seasonal visitors keep coming to visit us every winter. We love being involved with the snowbird community, and you’ll find us at Orange Beach’s Snowbird Fest every January—this past winter, we greeted festival attendees from our Mardi Gras-themed booth.
We also accommodate group snowbird dining by allowing you to reserve private dining spaces for snowbird club meetings or other events. Both our locations have large private rooms and special party menus.
Whatever your specific dining needs, we hope to see you at one of our snowbird restaurants. We’ll save you a seat and a fresh bowl of seafood gumbo.
