The Gulf Shores restaurant is currently seeking an experienced bartender who is people oriented and willing to go the extra mile to make our guests feel like part of our family. Qualified candidates should be friendly, professional, and have exceptional customer service skills.

The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to guests, taking food orders when guests are seated at the bar, ensuring guests have a pleasant dining experience and all payments are collected. This position requires diligence and customer-focus while abiding by state and alcohol beverage control state liquor laws. To succeed in this role, a Bartender is expected to have a positive attitude, follow our core values, and work well under pressure with colleagues and guests. Must be at least 21 years of age and have two years’ previous bartender experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Must have open availability to work a variety of hours including days, nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check.

Starting rate of pay for this position is $8.00 an hour plus tips.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Receives and fills beverage orders for restaurant guests at tables, sitting at the bar, or for guests waiting to be seated.
  • Prepares and serves liquor, mixed drinks, wine, beer, and nonalcoholic drinks as ordered.
  • Ensures fruit and other garnishes are prepared ahead of the opening of the bar.
  • Check customers’ photo identification to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • Promptly and professionally handles guest issues and communicates problems and/or concerns to management immediately.
  • Maintains the bar, keeps it clean and organized; restocks and replenishes bar inventory and supplies, such as beer and liquor, menus, silverware, side plates, and condiments.
  • Washing and putting bar dishes away in proper place.
  • Prepare customers’ bill and accept payment.
  • Count the bank before and after your designated shift, ensuring your cash deposit matches those of the server report.
  • Follow opening and closing bar duties, as assigned.
  • Must be able to work as a team or independently without supervision.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service, and presentation skills.
  • Must have strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have prior hands-on experience with and ability to operate point-of-sale systems.
  • Must be able to manage time accordingly, based on operational and customer needs.
  • Must have basic math skills such as adding and subtracting, multiplication, division, ratios and percentages.
  • Must be detail-oriented and thorough, with memorization ability.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (the duration of your scheduled shift).
  • Must be able to lift, move, balance, carry and place items weighing up to 45 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk, bend, squat, twist, lift, stoop, and reach outward and upward frequently.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Must have two years’ previous bartender experience in a high volume, full-service restaurant.
  • Must speak and write English fluently.
  • Must have experience with cash and money handling.
