The Original Oyster House partnered with oyster supplier Rodney Fox, president of R&A Oysters and sent three 53’ tractor trailers filled with supplies to Hurricane Harvey victims. The trucks contained approximately 120,000 water bottles and 14 pallets of cleaning supplies and paper products donated by Dees Paper Company. These crucial supplies were distributed over several days to the Beaumont storm shelter, the largest storm shelter in Texas. The shelter was out of water when the supplies arrived.
Hood’s Discount Home Center also spearheaded a donation drive for Texas and the Original Oyster House became a drop off site for supplies. All of the supplies sent to Texas by Hood’s Discount Home Center were donations from the community, employees and management from all Hood’s Discount Home Center and Original Oyster House locations. One of the Original Oyster House’s core values is giving back, and the family-bond the restaurants have help make this an easy task. Both locations have suffered hurricane damage in the past and know how far a helping-hand can go.
The Original Oyster House has become the “must-go-to” place for great fresh Gulf seafood, service and southern hospitality and for its panoramic waterfront sunsets. A top-spot for hand-shucked and fire-grilled oysters, the Original Oyster House has also become legendary for its homemade gumbo, cheesy grits with blackened shrimp, as well as handcrafted desserts including its famous Peanut Butter Pie. Consistently earning high marks in customer satisfaction, the Original Oyster House’s mission is to exceed customer’s expectations and received the 2017 TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence award.
