Getting back to tradition, the Original Oyster House closes the Sunday after Labor Day on September 11, 2022, to celebrate the best employees in the world. The 33rd Annual Employee Picnic thanks employees for a job well done with a private Family Fun Day at Waterville USA in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Due to Covid, the Oyster House Family Fun Day was postponed for two years.
This year’s event includes a lunch variety provided by Wacked-Out Weiner and Tast-d-licious BBQ food trucks. The Original Oyster House will recognize its many longtime staff members who have been with the company for more than 20 years. Known as an employer of choice, the Original Oyster House values family, integrity and great service.
The Original Oyster House has become the “must-go-to” place for great fresh Gulf seafood, service and Southern hospitality and for its panoramic waterfront sunsets. A top-spot for hand-shucked and fire-grilled oysters, the Original Oyster House has also become legendary for its homemade gumbo, cheesy grits with blackened shrimp, as well as handcrafted desserts including its famous Peanut Butter Pie. In 2016, the Original Oyster House became the first restaurant in the state of Alabama to recycle oyster shells through the Alabama Coastal Foundation. In July of 2022, an estimated 18.7 million oyster shells to date have been recovered from participating Gulf Coast restaurants.
